Dr. Bonnie Stephens, Principal

Dr. Stephens is proud to have served the students of Valparaiso Community Schools since 2008, first at Thomas Jefferson Elementary, then at Hayes Leonard, and now Heavilin. Prior to that, she started her work in Education as a Math Teacher for School City of Hobart, and then moved on to K-12 Curriculum for East Porter County Schools.  When asked about being the first principal of Heavilin Elementary, Dr. Stephens said, "As teachers, it is a privilege that parents give us their children each day to learn and grow as individuals. To be able to do that in such a community as Valparaiso is an honor; and in a facility such as Heavilin, is a pleasure."
